The author: Alexander Roob studied painting at the University of Fine Arts, Berlin. From 2000 to 2002, he was a professor at the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg. He has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts, Stuttgart since 2002.

This is a prodigious source for historical alchemical and related occultic images almost all in color giving the hue and cast of the original, often centuries-old documents. The commentary is largely accurate and insightful. The Taschen pocket book 2-D format is a bit unwieldy given the 3rd dimension is approximately 2" thick. If you go for Jungian or related works, and are interested in perusing more of the legacy of imagery, then this book is a must.
