I have read several of the Liaden Universe books written by the team of Sharon Lee and Steve Miller.
This is superior science fiction. The choice of words and descriptive body language of these characters personalise them in a way few authors do. Together, Lee and Miller weave a rich tapestry of another time and another universe.
I highly recommend any of the Liaden series like Balance of Trade and Local Custom. I lucked in to a copy of Local Custom at a charity book sale and have been enthralled with the Liaden Universe since.
Alibris books carries most of the books at a very reasonable price. You may be surprised as I was, at some of the high prices for recent copies.
My suggestion to those who enjoy good science fiction in the realm of Sturgeon, Silverberg, Asimov, Rice, Heinlein, Bradbury; buy this book now and enjoy~!
The writing of Miller and Lee offer excellent balance between these unique characters and future technology. After I finished Crystal Soldier, I came online and immediately bought a copy of Crystal Dragon, the 2nd in this duology.
