Wonderful Book!!
This book was wonderful. My husband and I read it together. We couldn't wait to read & find out "what happened next." I think everything Gilbert Morris writes is wonderful. He makes his characters so personable, you feel like you know them. This book is also historically correct, even though it is a fiction novel. We are now reading the sequel to this book entitled, "The Yellow Rose." For many hours of entertainment and a history lesson, read Deep In The Heart.

Exciting page turner
Historically accurate, exciting story of the days in Texas before it came a state. The characters are portrayed so well, as though the reader has met them. Faith is the thread throughout the book that keeps it moving and real. The central characters migrate from Arkansas to Texas and fall in love with the land - hence the book title. Having read the book, the first in a three book series, I had to find and immediately order the next two books.
