Seller's Description:
NEAR FINE in Very Good jacket. SIGNED by the author and inscribed, 'Nov. 71 / For Frank, / with warm wishes, / [signed] Carl. ' The inscribee was Frank Angelo, a lifelong newspaperman at the Detroit Free Press and served as managing editor there from 1955-1971. We acquired the book from Frank's daughter. xv, 302pp. 8vo, sewn binding in white cloth, black stamped spine lettering, blindstamped title to front head, navy topstain. Some faint toning to the extremeties and a very mild bump to the tail of the front board, faint damp splotches to the top edge, otherwise a very clean, sharp copy with tight, square binding. DJ snagged at front head, short tear and puncture to tail, and a bit toned around the edges, otherwise clean and whole with price intact. First book by the longtime University of Michigan professor (62 years), a theoretical study attempting to offer a 'general theory of democracy. ' Uncommon signed.
