In 1897 Bram Stoker introduced the world to one of the most famous characters in literature, Dracula. Not much is said about the origins of the title character in Stoker's classic Victorian novel. The movie Dracula Untold tells the backstory of Dracula. Set in the year 1462 (several years after the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks in 1453) Count Vlad seeks to protect his family and his kingdom. Wanting more power to defeat the Turks, he makes a bargain with the Master Vampire. True, he gains more strength and abilities, but he is transformed into a vampire who lives forever as long as he is able to consume blood. I have seen this movie twice and have really enjoyed it. It is consistent with Bram Stoker's book and goes a long way into presenting the historical context of Dracula. In sum, Dracula Untold is an excellent addition to the Dracula canon. Highly recommended.
