Very Good in Very Good jacket. 8vo. xv, 219pp, index, notes, bw ills, endpaper maps. Or black cloth in jacket. Slight creasing to flap otherwie near new. The 1927 killing of William Bell, a colonial government representative on Malaita in the Solomon Islands sparked a destruction more wanton and complete than could have been foreseen. The subsequent random killing of the Kwaio, raping of their women, destruction of their shrines and desecration of their sacred objects resulted in a severe dislocation in the Kwaio way of life from which they never recovered.
