Growing up partially in Zaire has infused Macpherson with an authentic spirit which zips generously through tunes like "Macambo" and "Shakin' It Out," while the addition on "Downriver" of Tony Guerrero's flugelhorn gives the track the soul of Hugh Masekela, at least for a few minutes.
