I didn't read Bond as a young person so only grew up knowing the films, which were OK in their way if you like that kind of thing. I heard Casino Royale as a dramatised reading on Radio 4Xtra and it was superb and inspired me to read some other titles.
Yes, by today's standards they are misogynistic and slightly racists but that was the way of the world then, what does stand the test of time is the wonderful prose.
If you've never dipped into Fleming's works do try them, you will be genuinely surprised by the quality there.
