The latest in the Fry/Cooper series. In further developing the characters from the previous four books, and introducing new ones into the mix, Stephen Booth holds the fans of his earlier novels, whilst weaving an intricate murder plot good enough to be a stand alone read. His descriptions of the Dark Peak bring it alive, and the snippets of local history only add to the atmosphere of the stories. As I read I can almost be back in my native Derbyshire. A serious rival to Peter Robinson in this genre, I look forward to reading many more in this series.
