This is an unfinished book that stops right in the middle of the story. There is no indication on the jacket notes of the book that this is volume 1 of 2 (proposed, apparently), and the second volume has still not been published. I have almost all of this author's other books and liked them very much, however, any publisher who sells a $25 hardback with no ending like this has ripped off the customer. This author used to be on my list of "buy any new book written by", but no longer.
