If you are a big fan of the Solti/Vienna Philharmonic "Ring" Cycle recording, this is for you. If you are a fan of the Ring but haven't heard the Solti version, this is for you--it will inspire you to listen to it. If you are an opera fan in general, this is for you as well, as it has lots of commentary on opera personalities, performance and recording. And if you are interested in the history of recorded music, this is also for you, as this Ring is one of the greatest achievements.
Started reading this and ended up listening to the Solti Ring cycle recording (in the order it was recorded) with much more understanding and pleasure.
