In 1960 Rockwell Kent, feeling unappreciated in his own country, gave 86 paintings and hundreds of drawings to the Soviet Union. Most of that collection is gathered in this book. The landscapes primarily depict the coast of Maine, the New York Adirondacks, and Greenland. The striking color plates are accompanied by Scott Ferris' description of the collection and a profile of the artist by Ellen Pearce, Kent's granddaughter. Also included are 95 footnotes, appendices, bibliography, and an index.
