Rosamunde Pilcher is a brilliant story teller. This book, as with all her other books, draws you into the unfolding events.

huge disappointment
I loved The Shell Seekers, so I was really looking forward to sinking my teeth into another great Pilcher novel. But September was slow, boring, tedious, lacking real character development, and contained very few (if any) surprises. Someone on another site (shelfari?) likened it to slogging through molasses. I had really had it up to here with Scottish "old money" and was relieved to finish that book and get it out of my life. Yes, I read it through. But the best part was finishing it for good.

Wonderful book by wonderful author
I have a weakness for novels based in Britain. I've read this 3 times now. I bought this hardback copy because my paperback was falling apart. This is a warm and absorbing story. All of Pilcher's novels and short stories are wonderful. I love the connection in September with characters from The Shellseekers. Highly recommended. I'd love to go visit the people in this book.
