Every L P Holmes book has it romance and love story. That was just a given in "tradtional" westerns, and he was one of the best in the business when it came to incorporating that element in his books. This book has Cleve Fraser, a big and easy going man, on the outside being dogged and pushed by land grabbers who want his "summer range" a rich and fertile grass land. But Pardee Dane grossly underestimated the man he went up against as too soft to fight. Cleve Fraser had known Leslie Cormack for a long time, yet he never saw her but that he was stirred by a "small marveling moment". She was a woman who reflected and embraced the land and its beauty into herself. And she was a power player in this scenario as well. This is one fantastic read I don't think anyone should ignor as "just a western".
