Cheap Beany Goodness
It's important to point out that I'm reviewing the 1979 version, *not* the newer one, which I'm told has had recipes taken out.
I love this book. Simple, cheap, easy, practical, wholesome, did I mention, cheap, protein-rich food. Especially considering the way things are going in the world, this book is *the* answer to the question of "what the heck do I *do* with all these stockpiled dried beans?" Creative stuff, largely drawing on England's wartime recipes, where glamorous ingredients aren't accessable, and getting the maximum amount of protein and vitamins into your family was what mattered.

This book came out in the 70's and the earlier copies are great. They have more recipes than the newer releases. I got extra copies as gifts and they went over big. My brother-in-law, who loves to fish, said the recipes are great for camping or boating, too.
