When an author can create a whole society of more modern day pirates without even slightly going cliche or making you roll your eyes, he has accomplished something many have tried and fialed to do. This book is a great walk through the lives of two civilized captives in the world of devolved pirates who rely on violence and fear to keep even themselves in order. It tests the limits of what any could take without joining the madness they found repulsive just the day before. Begs the question..what would I have done in their place. I love a book that doesn't leave my brain the second I put it down. If it makes me ponder moral and social points while away from it, then it draws me back in. A solid action thriller. Graphic descriptions of violence and sex.
