Friedrich Engels
Friedrich Engels (1820-1895) was a German philosopher, political theorist, journalist, and revolutionary socialist born to a wealthy textile manufacturer in the Kingdom of Prussia. Despite this privileged background, Engels became a constant critic of capitalism. In 1844, he began what would become a lifetime of collaboration with Karl Marx, even editing the final volumes of Das Kapital after Marx's death in 1883.
