This story puts so much coincidence at hand one is not sure that all things involved are not to get to one result. A girl has a baby she believes is dead upon birth. All of a sudden she receives photos telling her the babe is alive. A convicted killer is set free at the same time. It may be possible he is the father of the baby, did he send her the information to get her back to a town he is headed for? When he is released, another man is set up to take the fall for the same murder he was convicted of. Did he arrange it for revenge against the cop who arrested him? All seems to be. However, there are plots in this story. It seems cut and dried, but it is not. Many things that happen ARE actually coincidence. Not often happening in a book (most books have reasons, not coincidence), it will throw the reader off while trying to determine what is going on. Who all is involved in the plot and why? The reporter, the cop, the convicted murderer, the father, the sheriff, the witnesses from long ago? You will have to read it to find out, you will NOT be disappointed. Again, Jackson has written a novel that will keep you stumped until near the end. Read with gusto - this is a fantastic read!
