Author signed on title page (not penned to anyone in particular), 157pp text is crisp, tight and unmarked. Un-clipped, original photo illustrated dust wrapper shows some age-toning on flap ends and head of page block, else looks like new, is complete and displays well in new mylar. Born Lucky tells of John Francomes' rise from stable lad to Seven time champion jockey and international sports celeb. John learned to ride as a child and his natural talent became obvious representing Great Britain in the Junior Showjumping team and won a gold medal at the European Championships. At the young age of sixteen, he joined the legendary Fred Winter and it was for him that he rode Midnight Court to victory in the 1978 Cheltenham Gold Cup, along with taking the prestigious 1983 American Colonial Cup.
