[From inside front cover] HE KILLED BILLY THE KID! This is a facsimile reprint of one of the most sought-for items of New Mexicans, a famous but almost never seen booklet about the sheriff who pursued and killed Billy the Kid. It was written just after Garrett's own slaying in 1908, written by a newspaperman who knew Garrett and New Mexico well. This exact reproduction was made by a photographic process from one of the two known copies of the first (and until now only) edition. It is not only good history; it is thrilling reading matter. No collection of Western Outlaw material is complete without it. John J. Lipsey, Western Historian, Rare-book dealer, author, and publisher, wrote the above paragraph when he first reprinted this book in 1952. Shortly after John died in 1969, Julia asked if I wouldn't like to reprint the book again, am fortunate, and proud to be able to bring it to a new generation o Americana collectors, using John printing plates.
